  • Two cups of Jowar flour

Step-by-step recipe for Jonna roti

  1. In a bowl, add one cup of Jowar flour and a few pinches of salt. Mix it thoroughly.
  2. Then, add about half a cup of hot water gradually and mix it into a dough. Add more water if required, but make sure that the dough is not too sticky or too dry. The water amount will depend on the type of flour too. Finely ground flour will require less water.
  3. Divide the dough into equal-sized balls.
  4. Sprinkle some Jowar flour on the rolling board and start the dough rolling like a roti.
  5. Now, place the flattened Jowar roti on a hot tawa.
  6. Cook one side of the roti until it puffs up and then flip it over and cook the other side.
  7. Brush some ghee on both sides of the roti and cook for an additional minute until fully cooked.
  8. Remove the roti from the tawa and place it in a hot pack and cover it with a clean cloth, so that the Jonna roti stays warm and soft.
